Effect of Dianthi Semen and Benincasae Semen on the Body Weight, Serum Lipid and Histochemical Change of Rats Fed High Fat Diet

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective : This study was performed into investigate the effects of Dianthi Semen and Benincasae Semen on the body weight, serum lipid and histochemical change of rats fed high fat diet.
Method : I orally administrated the extracts of Dianthi Sernen(3OmB/lOg rat weight) and Benincasae Semen(4.5mg/100g rat weight) to the experimental group and a saline to the control group for 8 weeks with high fat diet.
Result :
1. The body weight in BS group were decreased and on the 7 and 8 week statistically showed the significant difference with the control group.
2. The contents of serum total cholesterol, FFA and phospholipid in DS group were decreased and statistically showed the significant difference with the control group,
3. The contents of serum total cholesterol, FFA, phospholipid and LDL-cholesterol in BS group were decreased and statistically showed the significant difference with the control group.
4. The average size of the epididymal fat cells in DS group was decreased and statistically showed the significant difference with the control group.
5. The area % of the hepatic fat drops in Ds and BS group was decreased but didn´t show the significant difference with the control group.
Conclusion : Dianthi Semen and Benincasae Semen had preventive effect on obesity of rats fed high fat diet.
